So, you downloaded Pages, typed your novel, letter, or thoughts and now…how do you name it?
First, if you have your document open in Pages, at the top left, tap on My Documents.
At the bottom of the document organizer, you will see the title “Blank.” Tap on that to bring up the keyboard to type the name of the document.
When the Keyboard appears, type the name you want to give the document.
Voila…! A newly named document in Pages.

Thanks for that post.Makes me want to learn more info on blog
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Great clean site here!
Just what I was looking for very helpful thank u
I love it.
exactly what i was lookin g for
I couldn’t figure out how to name my documents. Thanks for the help
I don’t get a “My Documents” button. Nothing happens when I tap on Blank 1
After you tap the Pages icon, you are presented with documents that exist. Tap once below the document where the name appears.
You will then be presented with a keyboard to change the name of the document.
If you are already in an open document, follow the directions in the post above.
Thanks. I was having the same problem finding the “My Documents” button! This was very helpful!
Thank you for your prompt and helpful response. Another questions: Is there any way to change the default font? My default is Helvetica, which I never use.
Thanks very much! Couldn’t figure it out on my own… It’s not the most obvious thing.
thanks I couldn’t find this answer anywhere on the apple site
When I tap as directed, I do not get the panel described above with “Blank” shown. There is no such field. How do I activate it?
Thanks so much to justin, i could not for the life of me figure this out.
I am confused though, with the first suggestion, when i have a document open, the tool bar reads as ‘ documents’, not ‘my documents’ as the picture above shows, and if you tap that, it goes back to the list of documents screen. I only downloaded pages a few weeks ago, is this a different version or something?
Thank you. Got the info I needed.
Thank u bro
Absolutely brilliant – thanks a million
PLS HW DO I GO ABOUT IT I CAN’T TYPE ANY THING ON THE KEYBOARD?
I can’t believe it was that simple. Thanks for the explanation! This info was nowhere on the Apple site (but then again, it could have been under my nose, as simple and as intuitive as this answer was).
I looked everywhere for how to name a Pages document. Finally I found your blog. So simple. I waded so so much extraneous junk till I got here. THANK YOU.
read that: “I waded THROUGH so much extraneous junk…”
Thank you Justin! I have spent hours trying to name my documents and just googled “how do I name a pages document” and got this site and now can name my docs.
Justin you are truly an angel! Something as straightforward as naming a document turned into something of a mindblower before your fabulous site. Thanks a million!
Thanks, I have a feeling I’ll be coming back for more – it’s not the most intuitive application!
When someone writes an paragraph he/she keeps the image of a
user in his/her brain that how a user can be
aware of it. So that’s why this article is great. Thanks!
Thanl you for the simple explanation.
Thanks mate. Saved me a headache.
Thanks. Very helpful.
I don’t see any “my documents” icon option on my new Pages app—just “documents,” which doesn’t give me any saving options.
Thanks thus really helped😀
Thanks from another Justin in London regards
Thanks so much! I was mystified.
