Although not directly an iPad article, Google announced today that it was buying Motorola for 12.5 billion dollars.
Google has stated “The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. Google will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business.”
With the competition between Google’s android operating system and Apple’s iOS, the acquisition of a hardware, patent owning company will prove to be an interesting development. You can read more about the purchase here.
