HandBrake Problems Because of VLC Update

If you use HandBrake to rip DVDs to get onto your iPad, you may have noticed that there was a recent update to VLC Player. HandBrake uses VLC Player to read and transcode encrypted DVDs. That causes a problem as the latest version of VLC changes the way Handbrake uses the VLC library. So, when you use HandBrake you may get an error message because a library it is looking for is not available.

The fix…download the missing library from VLC. You can use the installer package or put the file directly into /usr/lib on your Mac.

You can read about the problem, solution and issues in the MacWorld article.
