Mailbox, an app currently for Gmail only, makes the email inbox a task center. Recently, the company that started the app was bought by Dropbox and has continued to grow.
Now, the app that started off on the iPhone also works on an iPad. The app currently only works with Gmail but other platforms are promised soon.
The idea is simple. When you read an email, immediately assign it to an event or task via a HUD choice. Assign the email to read later, tomorrow, someday, etc. Then, it is effectively out of your inbox and is more akin to a reminder or event.
You can watch the app in action on an iPhone on the video below.
